African Tribal Masks.

Last week we observed one of the art teachers during a clay unit on African tribal masks. The Year 7 students began by making sketches of some African masks and then using that sketch to create a low relief carboard design. The the low relief designs helped the students study and plan how to create features that would stick out from the face of their clay masks. The students could then start to make their clay mask using the hand building techniques pinch and slip and score.
