O'Keefe up the good work TLES.

Sitting in the art classes is always fun. We sat in on a couple different art projects yesterday. One that the Year 8's are working on is a cubist-like still life. They were instructed to use multiple different mediums like newspaper, magazine, water colors, and oil pastels.

We're also constantly admiring their great sketchbooks. They're almost writing their own textbooks, with full sketches, details about artists, and notes on every page. It's something we certainly want to explore and try to incorporate into our own lessons.

This is a sixth form painting about to go in a school exhibit. Based on the work of Georgia O'Keefe. We were really impressed with it, and have been with most of the older students pieces.

Here are a few more sketches the Year 7 students have done for their Elephant Parade project. They are begining to complete their research and come up with a final sketch to be used on their clay piece.

Hand written self-portrait updates for the year 9 group of students, just a few examples.

We got to sit in on a lesson for the year 9 group. The students were doing 3-Dimensional wire sculptures of shells, based on the artwork of Dale Chihuly.

Of course we had to get in on that project! We hope the tissue paper shells can make it through the flight home.

This is Long Eaton on an afternoon when it wasn't raining. We got lucky. Then walked down to Nottingham University and enjoyed the lovely weather. A very brief break from the rain showers.

Of course we think of you all often, but we're trying to soak up every experience here. We know these last few days here are going to fly by. Missing you.

Never agree to plastic surgery if the doctor's office is full of portraits by Picasso.

Why was the art dealer in debt?- He didn't have any Monet.
What did the artist say to the dentist?- Matisse hurt.
Vincent van Gough walks into a bar, and the bartender offers him a drink...No thank -you, said Vincent, I've got one 'ere.

We're 'avin a laugh. : )
